The identities of the victim and his attacker were released today by the Sheriff’s Department. Killed was Kurtland Ma (r) and arrested in the aftermath was his alleged attacker and boyfriend, Andre Davids.

He moved to West Hollywood in February of this year, and according to Mr. Ma’s Facebook page, he had returned from a South East Asian trip just days ago.

Mr. Ma’s attacker, his roommate/lover, was also identified. His name is Andre Davids, age 36. As of September, 2013, the pair were in an intimate relationship.

The incident played out at roughly 5:00 pm on Palm Ave on Saturday, when deputies responded to a call from neighbors saying that there may have been a homicide and a possible suicide.

Forcing their way into the apartment unit, the deputies found Dr. Ma lying on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds, bleeding heavily.

Paramedics were called in and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Continuing their search of the premises, deputies then discovered Mr. Davids hiding in a bathroom. Homicide detectives say he appeared to have taken a large quantity of pills in an attempt to kill himself.

Lt. Corina added today that he had also slashed himself several times, needing hospital care.

Mr. Davids remains in the hospital, and will be arrested when able to be moved. The suspect is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
