| Volume 3, Issue 67 - Monday, August 25, 2008 | | Prime-of-Life Stroke Victims Find Group Solace
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, West Hollywood, California (Monday, August 25, 2008)David Bellamy did not expect to suffer a stroke at age 26.
When he did, he had no idea where to turn for support to get on with his life because most stroke recovery support groups are geared toward and populated by older stroke victims whose expectations and needs may be very different.
“I drive, I take care of myself and I do whatever I want, but I was looking to see if there was anyone else in my situation going through the same struggles I am,” he said

Caregiving By George Lodge, West Hollywood, California (Thursday, August 14, 2008)Mom was now in a wheelchair and we were adapting to a new way of life. It's interesting to me that Mom never seemed to realize or care that she could no longer walk. Caregiving By George Lodge, West Hollywood, California (Thursday, August 14, 2008)Around September of 2002, a job opportunity came up in Portland, Oregon where I used to live. I began to consider moving back to Oregon and taking Mom with me. I arranged a flight and flew to Portland the day before my interview. That evening, I received a phone call from the assisted living facility. Mom was exhibiting symptoms that caused them to suspect she had had a stroke. They were sending her to the emergency room, and the ambulance was on its way... [full story] |
