Those Palin effigists who caused such an outrage in 2008 are at it again, although they have learned a thing or two about messaging in the meantime.
Window designers and mannequin restorers ChadMichael Morrisette and Mito Aviles have erected a paean to the 2012 London Summer Olympics atop their Fountain aand Orange Avenues home.
“We wanted to do something to celebrate the Summer Games,” said Mr. Aviles, who ran for city council in 2011.
“We found this great mannequin at auction,” said his partner ChadMichael Morrisette, who boasted of the item’s rarity.
“It came up at auction, and we had to buy it,” said Mr. Morrisette, who noted that the item is vintage.
Owning a mannequin but not a retail store in which to display it, though, was a problem easily solved by these two roof-top display specialists.
The mannequin is part of a collection offered by famed mannequin designer Ralh Pucci.
The entire collection is of male mannequins in athletic, sport poses.
According to the Pucci website, "This collection has a futuristic feel yet the body poses were inspired by Roman and Greek sculpture.
"We wanted to create a modern version of the 1933 Status of Mussolini Sports Stadium in Rome.
Said Mr. Morissette, "It was one of Ralph's first lines in taking over the company from his parents.

"The few remaining mannequins are all that is left, as all the old molds are gone, which is where the rarity of the pieces comes into play.
"There were runners, divers, pommel horse poses,' he said, "all sorts of action poses. You simply don't see these kind of mannequins any more.
Messrs Morissette and Aviles have placed a series of displays atop their home over the past few years since the Palin effigy, including a protest of the Mormon Church, Halloween Carnaval, election time and Holiday season displays.
The first, and infamous, Palin effigy (first reported n WeHo News) got the pair mentioned as Keith Olbermann’s “Worst Persons in the World” segment on his now-defunct television show, “Countdown.”
The debate and protests following the display resulted in three days of tumult that engulfed a beleaguered City Hall and Sheriff’s Department, both of which ended up trying to deal with the thousands of phone calls and hundreds of visitors that the nationwide publicity garnered the city.
