Hollywood Forever Cemetery was the site of the inaugural meeting of a new and as yet unnamed historic preservation group in West Hollywood.

Tuesday evening’s gathering was hosted by lauded cemetery owner and preservationist Tyler Cassity.
Invited participants filled a neoclassic chapel hall with a stellar lineup of neighborhood activists and preservationists alarmed at the perceived lack of landmark status for many structures in the Creative City.
Organizer and historic theatre preservationist Hillsman Wright recruited the crack team behind Save Pickfair Studios (now The Lot, formerly UA and Warner Hollywood) and the Save Plummer Park activists.
Stephanie J. Harker of SPP spoke at length of her efforts to halt destruction of historic WPA buildings in the park.
Still others discussed the destruction of buildings on the Pickford/Fairbanks studio lot that acted as a further catalyst to coalesce this disparate group of concerned activists.
Other interested parties included Lynn Russell, Hollywood Heritage’s Richard Adkins, preservation historian Victor Omolchenko, historic archivist and journalist Tracy Pattin and a misdirected hummingbird, quickly adopted as the organization mascot which got named Little Pickfair.
The group convenes next at the historic walking tour of West Hollywood that takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 16th and 17th at 10 am in front of Tara at 1343 N. Laurel Avenue.
Guests who wish to tour the grounds of the Jim Morrison flat should bring ten dollars for admission.
No other fee is required, no reservations necessary.
