The new Sunset Strip certified farmers’ Market will debut on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Featuring local produce vendors and artisan goods, live music, entertainment, art, cooking demonstrations and education, the goal of the Sunset Strip Market is to allow members of the community to enjoy the Market after work hours and at the same time highlight the Sunset Strip’s reputation as a leading nightlife destination.
“The new Sunset Strip Market is not your typical farmer’s market,” said West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang.
“This market will give residents and others in the area an opportunity to gather on the world famous Sunset Strip while having fun, learning and supporting local farmers.”
“This Farmer’s Market will capture and build on the vibrancy of the Sunset Strip, bringing a fresh energy and a creative spin on the local farmer’s market,” said Mayor Pro Tempore Abbe Land.
Here are some of the highlights of the new Sunset Strip Market:
· Produce and Artisan Goods Vendors The Sunset Strip Market will feature a full range of vendors offering locally grown produce, as well as artisan goods. The Sunset Strip Market’s produce booth vendors are committed to supporting sustainable agriculture and healthful eating.
· Chef’s Shopping Program and Market Menus While the Market will be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Thursday, it will open from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. to local chefs. Chefs will be able to pre-order produce and pick it up at the Market.
· The Chef’s Shopping Program will allow restaurants to purchase fresh locally grown produce and create special Thursday night “farm to table” Market Menu items. The program is part of a partnership between the Market and several Sunset Strip Markets, including The Eveleigh, BLT Steak and RH at Andaz.
· Pairings Pavilion One of the Market’s unique offerings will be a Pairings Pavilion, which will allow local and international chefs to create fresh dishes paired with appropriate wines or craft brews in cooperation with local vineyards and breweries.
· Cooking Demonstrations The Market will also feature weekly Cooking Demonstrations that will showcase produce purchased that day at the Market.
· Veggie Valet To encourage patrons to shop and then enjoy the restaurants and entertainment on the Sunset Strip, they can take advantage of a Veggie Valet, where they can leave their Market purchases for the evening and pick them up before returning home.
· Entertainment In keeping with The Sunset Strip’s reputation as a entertainment destination, live music, comedians, and performance artists will appear weekly on stage at the Market.
“The Sunset Strip Farmer’s Market represents the best of who we are as neighbors and local business owners by bringing the finest locally grown produce and food to the Sunset Strip and amplifying the already powerful sense of community that we, as neighbors, feel about each other and our City.

“This is a community-centered event on the world renowned Sunset Strip, mixing rockers, shoppers and residents all in one place and celebrating the diversity and positive energy of Southern California’s adult playground,” continued Councilman Duran.“The Sunset Strip Market is a fantastic idea and I applaud the efforts of the Sunset Strip Business Improvement Association,” said West Hollywood Councilmember John Duran.
The certified farmers’ market will take place every Thursday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 8755 Sunset Boulevard, in the former Tower Records parking lot.
