WeHo In Detail: Octoberfest!

West Hollywood, California (October 18, 2007) – Even though it was a cool, cloudy day on Monday there were many who attended the October Fest celebration at the Helen Albert Certified Farmers Market in the north parking lot at Plummer Park in West Hollywood this past Monday.

The festivities included the live music of Chris Arpad, a steel drum soloist with vocals; he is an amazing band of one.

West Hollywood’s Recreation Services provided free giveaways that included cloth shopping bags and aprons decorated with the Farmers Market logo.

Raffles tickets were handed out and those lucky enough to win received a shopping bag filled to the top with fresh nutritious foods from the Farmers Market.

The Helen Albert Certified Farmers’ Market takes place every Monday from 9 am to 2 pm. Come and enjoy the produce from the many dedicated farmers who participate weekly.

You will find fresh naturally grown sprouts and wheat grass from the Kowalke Family Farm.

Energy Bee Farms has been in business for 36 years producing honey from their 600 hives. They have kept their business small in order to provide a naturally delicious, high quality honey sold only at farmers markets.

Depending on the season, the flavors available are Orange Blossom, Buckwheat, Sage, Wild Flower, and Cotton Blossom. Eliki’s Greek Taverna cooks and sells a variety of Greek foods.

I sampled the Fava Beans in sauce, hummus, eggplant and stuffed grape leaves, all delectable. Thierry Warnier’s La Boulangerie, in business for ten years, specializes in freshly baked, French organic breads in many flavors, Baguettes, pastries and croissants.

Gama Arvin Farms sells farm fresh eggs from free range, grain fed chickens. These eggs are hormone and steroid free.

You can also pick up some beautiful flowers from Lisa Morgan at Skyline Flowers and handmade bags, jewelry and headbands from FeFe.
